The Ultimate aim of meditation is to go within. Going within means to find Reality by finding the Real part of ourselves. Once we begin to meditate in the attempt to go within we should simply observe ourselves. We cannot do it simply. It is a very profound task or attempt...It does not matter if you believe all of this, or not. It only matters that you look inside. Find out for yourself who your ultimate observer is.
- Richard Rose from "Going Within," Psychology of the Observer.
Meet our presenters:
Shawn Nevins After years of struggling with all phases of spiritual seeking Shawn "woke up" to Reality in 1999. Soon after that transformative event, he wrote that he is much less concerned with the world, "Except for the desire to communicate this to people. To communicate that there is an End. There is Certainty. You can know something for sure; There is a place, which is no-place, where there is no flip side to the coin." Shawn now pursues avenues for spiritual communication through poetry, essays and Poetry in Motion Films where he documents new spiritual voices.
Tess Hughes Tess was born into a religious family on a farm in Ireland. Where, she says, "we were often reminded of the existence of God, not just by our parents but the whole community and culture I lived in....From an early age I was always looking for answers. My questions were about things like; what's it all about, is there life after death, why is there so much unfairness in the world. On August 6th 2010 I finally found the answer to all my questions. This answer is what is known as Self-realization or Awakening to The Truth." Tess attributes the unfolding of the final leg of her journey to TAT, the clarity of the teachings and writings of Richard Rose, attending two intensive self-inquiry weekends and an ongoing correspondence with Art Ticknor over three years. She wishes to repay TAT for this great gift and help in passing on these teachings in whatever way she can. Find more about Tess, her path and her current teaching at her website.
Leesa Williams A Yoga and meditation instructor, Leesa is a long-time spiritual seeker who has been influenced by TAT, Linda Clair and Adyashanti. She currently teaches conscious relaxation at a Virginia college and leads a self inquiry group in Lynchburg.
Art Ticknor A longtime student of TAT Founder Richard Rose, Art's years of seeking came to an end in 2004. Work with Douglas Harding in 2003-2004 played a significant part in setting the stage for his awakening which came months later during a solo retreat at a monastery in Pennsylvania. Art's writings are available in the TAT Forum newsletter and in his books Beyond Relativity and Solid Ground of Being. Art's Self-Discovery Portal contains a vast amount of information on the spiritual search.
Anima Pundeer Anima has written "The mind is an ocean to cross in the journey to self-realization. The mind is also the boat that takes us across. Introspection, or studying the mind with the mind, is the source of propulsion. What do we look for? When, where and how do we do it?." Her spiritual path is chronicled in the documentary "Meetings with Remarkable Women." A sample of her writing can be found in "Finish what you start" in the TAT Forum.
Paul Constant Paul is a frequent Rapport leader and presenter on the teachings of Richard Rose. For a sampling of Paul's writings, visit http://www.searchwithin.org/, or read some of his essays in the TAT Forum.

What is the TAT Foundation?
A group encouraging people to think rather than believe. A group determined to help people find ways and means to answer their deepest philosophical questions. A gathering of folks who are not afraid to be honest with one another. An island of hope and sanity (or at least the hope for sanity!). Last, but not least, TAT is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization chartered in 1973.
