Welcome to TAT’s first official event at our new home in North Carolina. Since its founding in 1973 by Richard Rose, TAT has sponsored numerous events that offer a remarkable gathering of seekers, finders, and friends. We hope to see all of you at the TAT Center for a weekend of both celebration and contemplation, as we ask the question: What Does It Mean to be Awake?
Meet our featured presenters:
Paul Rezendes
The life of Paul Rezendes is a compelling story: leader of two notorious motorcycle gangs, becomes yoga teacher, spiritually awakens, then lives that through his work as a renowned wildlife tracker, teacher, and photographer. Paul points definitively to the conundrum of the self, the seeker, getting in the way of what is sought. See Paul’s video on: What Does It Mean to be Awake?
Anima Pundeer and Tess Hughes
Anima began meditating in her late teen years and soon realized that underneath all the suffering in the world, the real pain was the feeling of a separate self. In June of 2004, she had an experience where she realized her All-ness and One-ness and finally knew Freedom. She tells her story in the documentary Meetings With Remarkable Women. Anima is co-author with Art Ticknor of Always Right Behind You. She lives with her family in Houston, Texas.
Tess Hughes, an Irish woman who lives in Ireland, came across the TAT Foundation one Autumn evening in 2003 while Googling an old boyfriend whose name was Richard Rose! This serendipitous event eventually (7 years later) led her to "the golden find beyond the mind" that Richard Rose—founder of the TAT Foundation—referred to. Tess attributes the direction, encouragement, and knowledge she found at the TAT community to forging the way for this transformation in herself. Watch Tess' presentation recorded during the 2017 TAT Spring Conference, or watch her interview on ConsciousTV.
Bob Cergol and Art Ticknor
Bob was 19 when he met Richard Rose in 1972. He lived with Rose at his house in Benwood, WV, and on Rose's farm. Twenty years later, he moved away to pursue his life. He married and started a family, but soon gravitated back to the path. TAT group work led to a series of events that triggered a spiritual realization that brought Bob an absolute, final answer. Over the past decade, Bob has delivered a number of presentations during TAT events and has authored numerous TAT Forum essays that were ultimately published in Beyond Mind, Beyond Death, a TAT Foundation Press book. Listen to his story in a podcast interview on SpiritualTeachers.org.
Art worked firsthand with numerous psychological and philosophical systems during years of intensive research. Twenty-six years of effort toward self-definition paid off in 2004, when the final nail was driven into the ego's coffin during an intense Realization. Art is the author of the books Beyond Relativity, Solid Ground of Being, and Sense of Self: The Source of All Existential Suffering?, invaluable guides on the quest for self-knowledge. Art currently lives the life of la dolce far niente and is involved in the Gainsville Florida-based Philosophical Self-Inquiry Discussion Group. For more information, visit Self-Discovery Portal.
Additionally, our frequent lineup of TAT teachers, authors, presenters, photographers, and filmmakers — including Mike Gegenheimer and Paul Constant — will be available for informal discussion throughout the weekend.
Plus, there will be a Silent Rapport Sitting, Group Meditation Sessions, and Group Inquiry.
The registration deadline for TAT's April Spiritual Retreat Weekend is Wednesday, April 6.

It is Satsang with the silent, inner guru that is present in everyone – yet hidden behind the ceaseless chatter of the ego and the glare of sensory experience. It is the meaning of the saying: "Where two or more are gathered in my name, there I am present." Sunday, April 10, 2022

What is the TAT Foundation?
A group encouraging people to think rather than believe. A group determined to help people find ways and means to answer their deepest philosophical questions. A gathering of friends who are not afraid to be honest with one another. An island of hope and sanity (or at least the hope for sanity!). Last, but not least, TAT is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization chartered in 1973.
