February 2023 Virtual Gathering

Death, Dying, and Beyond

A TAT Foundation Winter Virtual Retreat Saturday February 4, 2023

“Everyone has two lives. The second one begins when you realize you only have one.”
– Steven Sotloff (as quoted in the Sept 2015 TAT Forum)

“If you die before you die, then when you die, you don’t die.”
– Wisdom traditions (attributed variously to Zen, Greek, and other sources)

Join us from anywhere in the world for an exciting exploration into the mysteries of Being! TAT Founder Richard Rose encouraged his students to follow their higher intuition and to make a commitment to Truth for its own sake. In this one day online session, we will investigate how death, dying, and what may lie beyond it could be relevant to a seeker of Truth, and what the mystics might mean when they speak of “dying while living.” We’ll hear from some who have found answers they were looking for, from seekers who are trying to find their way, and we’ll also have a chance to interact with other seekers in small groups. Join us!

Presenters

Anne Geraghty

Anne worked as a Clinical Psychologist and spent many years seeking deeper reasons for our human unhappiness than those given by a medical model of psychological distress. She worked with R D Laing trying to uncover the politics of experience within society. She explored many schools of thought on our inner worlds. For many years she lived in an ashram in India learning from the spiritual wisdom of the east before returning to London where she ran a centre for psychotherapy and meditation. And then her son died. After a lifetime exploring life, her grieving became an exploration of death.

She has written several books on love and the psycho-spiritual journey including: Death, the Last God: A Modern Book of the Dead and Love In a Time of Extinction: Navigating an Eco-Apocalypse.

Interview on Conscious TV: Death, The Last God.

‘Death, like life, has many dimensions. Some belong to our human world, aspects of the continual evolution of life on Earth. Others are elements of an eternal mystery so vast it is beyond our comprehension. In our individualised modern culture we have many parts, death is not therefore a singular event, each part of us dies in its own way. Yet although we cannot know exactly what happens after death until we die ourselves, we can explore death in life and what death means for us. Through such an exploration we reach a different liberation. As Camus described when he wrote: There is but one freedom, to put yourself right with death. After that everything is possible.’

Richard Lang

Richard Lang is Co-ordinator of the Shollond Trust, the UK charity set up in 1996 to help share the Headless Way as widely as possible in the world. He first saw who he really was when he attended a workshop with Douglas Harding in 1970. He is committed to making this Vision as widely available as possible. Richard’s first book, Seeing Who You Really Are, was published by Watkins in 2003. His second book, Open to the Source – Selected Teachings of Douglas Harding, was published by Inner Directions in 2005. The Man With No Head is an introduction to Douglas Harding, and Everyday Seeing contains daily meditations.
